Job Description: Network Administrator
**THIS IS A SELF FUNDED POSITION. THIS POSITION DOES REQUIRE THAT YOU RAISE YOUR OWN SUPPORT.
The Network Administrator (NA) provides technical support to maintain the functionality of all computer equipment for the BEE World network for a specific office location. The NA maintains the integrity of the BEE World office network including server(s) and all workstations and peripheral equipment that are permanently connected to the network to ensure minimal downtime for the on- and off-site employees. The NA installs new software applications, assigns passwords and control access, protects the security of the servers and workstations data, maintains the data structure, and ensures consistent and constant backup strategies are followed. The NA also identifies needed hardware and integrates new equipment such as printers, scanners, and workstations into the network. The NA interfaces with the Internet Service Providers to ensure the highest quality of connectivity for both students and others who wish to use our content. The NA is responsible for training and providing customer support to users of the network and its system of equipment, thus helping each person to be effective in the use of the system and its software. The NA also is responsible for CD duplication, preparation of materials for Internet and FTP download, and the reproduction of materials to be shipped to various parts of the BEE organization. The NA is the primary source for tech support for both office and offsite personnel as well as enrolled students. This position is required for each BEE World office.
Maintain office Intranet/network servers data structure, file access, printer sharing, etc.
Ensure external server security and access control.
Maintain Internet connectivity at highest optimum level, and interface with ISP.
Develop and maintain "change" management strategies for site content.
Develop and maintain backup and offsite data storage strategies.
Maintain the functionality of all workstation hardware and software.
Handle tech support for software, hardware, and Web use installation, and troubleshoot.
Provide training to BEE World staff on hardware, software, and system usage.
Manage duplication services for on- and off-site personnel.
Document server and network changes, and maintain server logs.
Maintain and implement site and curriculum changes.
Ensure consistency between development and deployment servers.
CD duplication and reproduction and version control management.
Broad knowledge and working background of various server, Web server, and Internet technologies.
An MCSE (or equivalent level of knowledge) is preferred. A minimum of two years of practical experience working in a networked office environment is required.
Must have a good working knowledge of the following tools: Microsoft OSs including 98, XP, NT, 2K, and Server 2003; Web servers, including IIS and Apache; TCP/IP (certification recommended); Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook; MS Proxy Server 2.0; and Microsoft Office tools, including MS Access and PowerPoint.
Must be familiar with the administration and setup of the above.
Must have knowledge and experience in maintaining and upgrading computer hardware.
Linux and PHP knowledge a plus.
Strong people skills, strong communication skills, and a high degree of patience are essential.

Methodical and thorough in work habits.
