Job Description: Web Developer
THIS IS A SELF FUNDED POSITION. THIS POSITION DOES REQUIRE THAT YOU RAISE YOUR OWN SUPPORT.
The Web Developer (WD) develops and maintains the BEE World and Internet Biblical Seminary (IBS) Web site content including course material. The WD works as a team member with the Curriculum Development Team, the Systems Analyst, the Course Publisher, Graphic Artists, and the IBS Project Manager to ensure that all Web site platforms are working and providing the needed services in delivering the Web site content. The WD actively works to troubleshoot and correct problems, as well as continually seeks to improve the Web sites for delivery of Web site content. The WD works closely with the Course Publisher to help in the preparation and delivery of the course content to the Web. The WD may also be required to work with and manage volunteer Web Developers contributing to projects on each Web site. The WD works closely with the IBS Web Programmer in the implementation of Web site content. The WD is a member of the IBS Team.
Work in a team environment to produce complete HTML content for the BEE World and the IBS Web sites.
Learn and maintain knowledge of Web processes for producing course content on the IBS site.
Understand, maintain, and improve the code behind the tagging process, and troubleshoot this code.
Work closely with the IBS Editor Programmer to improve the code that is associated with each "tag."
Update and maintain all Web site HTML content.
Work with members of the Curriculum Development Team and the IBS Development Team to produce and improve all Web site content.
Implement the Web site content as designed by the IBS Systems Analyst.
Maintain version control and content integrity of all Web site and course content.
Work with the Graphic Artists to ensure that all graphics are included in the HTML content.
Work closely with the IBS Web Programmer in the implementation of the site content.
Recognize and communicate changes that affect the Curriculum Development Team and the IBS Development Team.
Work within guidelines and timelines defined by the Curriculum Development Team and the IBS Development Team.
Continually analyze the Web site content to see how it can be improved, and make recommendations to the Curriculum Director and the IBS Project Manager.
Willing and able to work in a team environment.
Must know CSS, HTML, and Java Script; knowledge of XHTML or XML is a plus.
Support development of IBS and BEE Web sites, courses, and processes.
Able to learn quickly.
Able to follow and troubleshoot processes.
Able to recognize relationships between tasks completed and the effects on other members of the team.
Able to use Macromedia Dreamweaver.
Knowledge of XML and VBA a plus.
Knowledge of Web servers and PHP also a plus.
A team player.
Detail oriented, methodical, and thorough in work habits.
Possess strong communication skills.
It is assumed that the WD is a mature Christian and exhibits the fruit of the Spirit in all aspects of life.
