Job Description: Course Publisher
The Course Publisher (CP), with the use of Web and print development tools, prepares finished course material from the Curriculum Development Team for publication in print, CD, downloads, and the Internet. The CP produces complete and technically error-free Web-based and print versions of the courses. The CP "tags " and reviews the tagging and course structure of BEE World course content documents created by the Curriculum Development Team. From these tagged source documents the CP creates Web-based and print versions of those courses through the use of Web and print development tools. The CP reviews the course material for needed information for the tagging process. The CP works with the Curriculum Development Team to ensure that all needed information is gathered and entered, so the publishing process can continue. The CP also works with the Graphic Artists and the Web Developer to ensure that the course meets the requirements for publication to the Internet. The CP reviews all published forms of the course material to ensure that it is usable, whether it is on the Internet or in paper form. The CP also oversees the final edit of the course material by the General Editor.
Work in a team environment to produce complete courses.
Learn and maintain knowledge of Web and print development processes. Currently, this means learning how to tag Microsoft Word documents and process those documents with the Word2Web and Word2Word development tools.
Work with the Curriculum Development Team to ensure that all needed graphics and information are present for tagging the course documents.
Ensure that the course materials match the standard course structure.
Maintain version control and content integrity of course documents throughout the Web and print development processes.
Test course material on the Web. Do a "Click Through" to ensure that all links, interactions, and navigation work correctly. Implement corrections as necessary. Work with others, as needed, to make corrections.
Review all final course materials for errors.
Oversee the final edit of the print and Web versions. Incorporate any modifications.
Ensure that course material is identical between the different forms of publication.
Troubleshoot the Web and print development processes, working to improve them.
Maintain or create documentation of development processes and/or train others to follow them.
Communicate and/or prepare documentation that communicates special handling of tagged documents to the translation teams.
Recognize and communicate changes that affect the Course Development Team for the respective course.
Work within guidelines and timelines defined by the Curriculum Development Team.
Willing and able to work in a team environment.
Must be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft operating systems.
Familiar with Web-based technologies.
Willing and able to learn new tools and processes.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, including the knowledge of how to run and record macros, attach templates, use the AutoText feature, and work with hidden text.
Able to use other word processing tools.
Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
Know how to save and access files on a network.
Able to learn quickly.
Must have good problem-solving skills and able to follow and troubleshoot processes.
Able to recognize relationships between tasks completed and effects on other members of the team.
Able to use Macromedia Dreamweaver.
Knowledge of VBA a plus.
Detail oriented, methodical, and thorough in work habits.
Strong communication skills and enjoy working with people.
It is assumed that the CP is a mature Christian and exhibits the fruit of the Spirit in all aspects of life.
