Job Description:

I.      Job Summary

 

Prepares and analyzes financial reports, provides internal and external audit support, develops and maintains internal control processes and systems, and provides ongoing support of compliance and tax filings

 

II.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements
  • Assists in annual external audit
  • Maintains integrity of financial reporting and supporting documentation
  • Assists with preparation of compliance and tax returns as assigned, including Form 990, income taxes, sales tax returns, etc.
  • Maintains and balances automated consolidation system
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
  • Develops and maintains strong internal control environment
  • Maintains compliance with organizational accounting policies in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and key organizational practices and policies
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations

     

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities      

  • Performs other duties assigned by Director, Financial Reporting

  • Reports to Director, Financial Reporting

 

IV. Job Specifications

 

A.   Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor-level degree in accounting and five (5) years’ accounting experience
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) certification preferred
  • Excellent Accounting/GAAP knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with particular strength in Excel and Access
  • Experience with Serenic Navigator accounting software beneficial
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with strong detail orientation
  • Excellent initiative with ability to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information
  • Ability to learn quickly and to expand responsibilities based on knowledge and experience
  • Ability to maintain developing knowledge and to understand regulatory, legal, and professional information
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to build strong departmental and organizational relationships

 B.    Physical/Mental Demands

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while under frequent deadline conditions

 C.    Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in a conventional office environment
  • Occasional travel may be required
