Job Description:


The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for leading HOPE’s financial planning and analysis function by spearheading key activities including the annual budgeting process and the quarterly reforecast process. This role is also responsible for the development and delivery of regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis to facilitate effective decision-making.



To promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International and to contribute to the financial and accounting aspects of the organization with a special emphasis on financial analysis and reporting.



I. Forecasting & Budget

a. Lead the compilation and analysis of the HOPE International budget for and prepare the financial plans for all domestic entities,; and

b. Interpret and communicate quarterly performance results in order to provide the Executive Team with analytical tools needed to complete the quarterly reforecast process.

II. Reporting & Analysis

a. Review, analyze and communicate results of the financial reporting package to Executive Team (ET) on a monthly basis. Reporting package includes finance dashboards and analytical narratives based on interpretation of monthly financial and operational performance for individual business entities as well as the consolidated organization;

b. Develop and then use various forecasting and analysis tools to make recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer and the ET to aid in the decision-making process;

c. Manage preparation of monthly budget to actual variance analysis and income, cash flow, and balance sheet forecasting;

d. Ensure appropriate allocations of donor funds for program purposes based on donor intentions. Manage and ensure accurate tracking of all restricted donations;

e. Regularly analyze and interpret supplemental reporting and financial analysis needs, providing tools and recommendations to meet these needs within the organization;

f. Ensure proper yearend reporting, including final reporting of use of donor funds, variance analysis for budget, and final year end presentation on performance to Executive Team; and

g. Ensure ever increasing efficiency and relevance of FP&A activities, working proactively to improve systems, processes and information.

III. Finance Team Support

a. Utilize accounting knowledge by working with the Senior Accountant for Accounting Operations to ensure the integrity of the financial system, including accuracy of accounting transactions recorded;

b. Provide guidance to Finance team and others on proper functional allocation of expenses; and

c. Provide guidance and recommendations as needed to the Finance Assistant and Donor Care Administrator with routine accounting tasks.

IV. Other

a. Provide relevant training to new employees on FP&A related reports and topics, per requirements of new employee orientation program; and

b. Respond ad hoc requests for reporting, financial information, and provide assistance on special projects as requested by Controller, CFO and members of the Executive Team.



I. Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International;

II. Minimum of 4 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis including budget development, variance analysis, financial modeling and cash flow forecasting. Leadership experience within this domain is preferred;

III. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or other relevant field;

IV. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to effectively communicate at all levels of an organization;

V. Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate financial data and information to non-finance professionals;

VI. Experience in project management and in coordinating various individuals to achieve a common purpose;

VII. Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands/multiple deadlines;

VIII. Creative and proactive self-starter with the ability take initiative in creating effective solutions; and

IX. Expertise in Microsoft Excel, with VBA competency preferred.
