The Vice-President of Development, working closely with the President/CEO and Board, is responsible for the planning and implementation of all programs and campaigns and will take the lead in cultivation, stewardship, and major and principal gifts by performing the following duties.
Meet fundraising goals. Assess, coordinate, implement, facilitate, maintain and evaluate ongoing fundraising activities in keeping with the goals of both short and long range strategic plans.
•Structure and direct the annual giving and donor relations functions, achieving consistent growth in volume of donors and dollars raised.
•Oversee the identifying, recruiting and mobilizing of church, business and community leaders to serve as volunteers and sponsors.
•Develop solicitation strategies and techniques.
•In collaboration with development team ensure that the organization’s large and small annual fundraising events meet revenue targets and strategic goals.
•Works closely with the Direct of Communication on messaging, mutually reinforcing donor activities and material development.
•Oversees the development team in the annual gift cycle including the engagement and cultivation of new and existing major donors and prospects including retention and migration strategies.
•Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Collaborates with other senior leaders in the overall management of the Los Angeles Mission.
•Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
•Evaluates the results of overall development operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the chief executive officer.
•Create opportunities for the Mission’s ministry staff to participate in development activities.
•Oversees Community Partnership, Volunteers and Public Relations staff.
Seven to ten years experience in a senior development leadership role. Prefer CFRE or equivalent.
Requirements include a successful track record of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects. Significant experience in leading a capital fundraising staff and managing volunteers is necessary. Significant budget, personnel, and staff management experience is needed. Excellent interpersonal communications and team-building skills are essential. The successful candidate will have knowledge of strategic approaches to problem solving and ability to engage in strategic planning to meet goals. Progressively responsible experience in the nonprofit sector is preferred. A high level of energy, personal motivation, initiative, and creativity is essential.Dental Insurance: Yes
