Job Purpose: To oversee all aspects of sales department operations and maintain profitability based on corporate goals.
Duties: Manage, motivate, and lead sales staff to budgets that leas to overall station profitability. Meet or exceed local sales and collection goals, while keeping sales costs within budget. Assure that all advertising copy, account servicing, and receivables are maintained in a current and professional manner, in the best interest of the company. Develop rate increases and adjustments. Supervise development of sales promotional ideas and tools. Promote harmony and cooperation between the sales department and all other areas of station operation. Keep up-to-date on current market trends and competitive activity and react appropriately. Attend national Sales Managers’ meetings. Implement and maintain ethical and legal hiring and termination procedures as outlined in the station Operations Manual. Produce weekly and monthly sales reports to support corporate management. Mitigate employee personnel issues in a professional and fair manner. Complete additional assigned project by General Manager.
Qualifications: Minimum of three years experience in commissioned outside sales with a proven track record of success. Proven track record of managing a sales team of at least 4 people. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Professional appearance and demeanor. Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently and effectively. Outgoing, enthusiastic personality that is conducive to rapport building with clients and co-workers. Full use of insured and reliable vehicle. Ability to type and have basic computer skills. Goal/achievement oriented and open to learning, development and growth.
