Job Summary:

This position is PART TIME and is located in Hoffman Estates, IL.  Relocation is not provided. 


The Accounting & Operations Associate performs accounting and clerical work involved in the accounting function at Bright Hope.  It also creates, updates, and maintains financial databases of international Field information and then provides periodic reporting and communication to Field staff.  The ideal candidate is an evengelical christian who's passionate about helping the extreme poor around the world, has accounting and financial acumen with Quickbooks experience, takes initiative to problem solve and improve processes, works independently, and is highly organized.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Records all A/P, A/R, bank deposit & payroll transactions and ensures timely payment of all invoices; maintains vendor documentation files
  • Assists external CPA in preparing Management & Board reports and other external reporting requirements
  • Assists external CPA with reconciliations and other complex accounting issues
  • Serves as organizational liaison to outside state registration consultant
  • Responds to staff inquiries regarding accounting matters
  • Runs reports from QuickBooks and uses data to update and analyze Field transactions
  • Updates databases, creates reports and communicates reporting information to Field staff.  Reports include, but are not limited to: PPDC report, partnership and intern fund balances, partnership and intern donation balances, major projects, and major donors
  • Creates and updates annual field project budgets
  • Sets up and manages google docs and shares reports with appropriate field staff
  • Exercises independent judgment and thought over resolution of non-routine accounting problems
  • Initiates process improvements routinely

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting preferred
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Database experience, including QuickBooks, Excel, and Access
  • Non profit experience preferred
