Taylor University is seeking applications of candidates for the Superintendent of Grounds. This is a
full-time, 12 month, exempt position located in Upland, Indiana. Resumes will be accepted until position is filled.
Candidates considered for this position must possess the following: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. BA/BS, or a Master’s degree provides additional credibility in our education community; it is desired but not required. Three years of landscaping
and grounds keeping experience. Having knowledge of IDEM, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies is required. Two years of supervisor experience or willingness and ability to satisfactorily complete T.P.C. Supervisory Training Program or equivalent within six
(6) months after appointment. Must be in good physical condition and willingness to take a physical exam at Taylor’s expense, if requested. Have a valid driver’s license, and a safe driving record. The candidate must be able to acquire CDL license within
three months of employment. Candidates will need to be on-call availability and ability to be contact by cell phone as necessary.
The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for the overall appearance and care of the University grounds. This care covers lawn spaces, landscaping, athletic venues, campus roads, and campus infrastructure such as sewer and storm water management. They will
be responsible for managing, coordinating, directing, and supervising the Grounds Technicians, and Field Turf Specialist; managing the financial framework for grounds; and instruction and training of employees in equipment usage. The Grounds Supervisor also
conducts studies and makes recommendations regarding new grounds equipment and operational procedures. This position also has oversight of the University motor pool care.
