Follow Up

by Luke Miller

You want a sharp-looking, professional resume so that you’ll rise to the top of a recruiter’s list as a stand-out candidate. A good-looking resume loaded with relevant experience, however, won’t always get noticed, and may not convince your potential employer, at first glance, that you’d be a great fit for their organization.

This is where good follow-up is crucial. Make sure you’re tracking the employers to whom you’re applying, and follow-up if you haven’t heard from them within a few days to a week. Your call will force the recruiter to take a second look at your resume, and may be able to alert them to something they may have missed.

Remember that employers are getting dozens, if not hundreds, of resumes for a single position. Show them you’re exceptional by going the extra mile and following up with a phone call.
